Lionel Messi broke yet another Barcelona record as he scored a stunning hat-trick in a superb 4-1 win at Real Betis. Messi got Barca off to an ideal start by drilling a free kick into the top corner of the net in the 18th minute. Messi scored another one at the 45th minute of the game making a score of 2 against 0. Uruguay forward Suarez had missed several clear chances to score but he finally got his reward for a lively performance with a goal in the 63rd minute for Barca. Loren Moron finally scored a goal for Real Betis at the 82 minutes while Messi gave a stricking victory with histhird goal at the 85th minute of the game putting Barca 10 points clear to the top.
Barca now have a 10-point lead over Atletico Madrid and a 12-point lead over Real Madrid, and Messi has played a considerable role in their dominant title defence. Lionel Messi needs just one more hat-trick to equal Cristiano Ronaldo's La Liga record of 34 after scoring three times for Barcelona against Real Betis on Sunday.
