Surendra Regmi Elected as Vice President of Nepal Bankers' Association

Surendra Raj Regmi, the Chief Executive Officer of Global IME Bank, has been elected unopposed as the Vice President of the Nepal Bankers' Association (NBA). The decision was made during the association's annual general meeting held on Wednesday.

Mr. Regmi assumes this prestigious position following his appointment as the CEO of Global IME Bank only three months ago. His rapid ascent to such a significant role within the NBA highlights his exceptional leadership and strategic capabilities.

The Vice Presidency became vacant after Santosh Koirala, the CEO of Machhapuchhre Bank, was elected unopposed as the President of the association during the same meeting.

A seasoned banker with over 35 years of experience in the financial sector, Mr. Regmi has played a pivotal role in driving Global IME Bank's growth and strategic development. Known for his expertise in mergers and acquisitions, along with outstanding people management skills, he has established himself as a distinguished figure in Nepal’s banking sector.

Mr. Regmi began his banking career in 1988 with Rastriya Banijya Bank and has held various prominent leadership roles since joining Global IME Bank in 2008. His qualifications include a Master’s degree in Economics from Tribhuvan University and an MBA from the University of Wales, UK.
