Barcelona’s 17-game, five-month long unbeaten streak in La Liga was 13 minutes away from ending when Villarreal led 4-2 in the 80th minute but the defending champions somehow found a way to come back and earn an unbelievable point on a wild 4-4 draw.
The first 25 minutes were absolutely insane: Barca had two giant chances and scored two goals. Coutinho gave a brilliant head start for team Barca with it's first goal at the 12 minute. Barca didn't ease off with a single goal, so Malcom did net a second goal at the 16th minute of the game. Villarreal hauled themselves back into the contest with a strike from 19-year-old Samuel Chukwueze midway through the first half.
The pace of the game eventually slowed down as the teams tried to stop each other more, which led to a more physical game and a lot of fouls and yellow cards from both sides. At halftime, Barca had the lead in a truly wild game, and their 2-1 lead wasn’t safe at all.
The second half started in the worst possible way for Barça, Vicente Iborra scored on 62 minutes before Carlos Barca completed the incredible revival for Villarreal with their fourth goal on 80 minutes. At this point Villarreal was leading the game with the difference of 2 goals against Barca.Things got somewhat interesting when the 86th-minute red card of Alvaro Gonzalez gave Barca a numerical advantages. Lionel Messi who was called from the bench on 61 minutes scored a ridiculous free-kick in the 90th minute to give Barca some kind of hope and in the very last play of the game, after a corner kick from Messi found Luis Suarez at the edge of the box who scored a spectacular flew that found the back of the net.
