Shine Resunga Development Bank: An Exhilarating Journey from Past to Present

Shine Development Bank Ltd. was established in Butwal-Rupandehi, western Nepal's economic and industrial center, on Falgun 11, 2065 BS with service regions spanning three districts. After merging with Resunga Bikas Bank on 2069, Chaitra 4 from Gulmi Region, the development bank was renamed Shine Resunga Development Bank Ltd., and its service territories were expanded to ten districts. The development bank was further merged with Gaumukhi Bikas Bank from Pyuthan district on Jestha 29, 2073 BS. With acquisition of Bhaargav Bikas Bank and Purnima Bikas Bank on 2076, Ashwin 27 the development bank was upgraded to a national level development bank on 2076 Mangshir 10.

Shine Resunga Development Bank Limited also received the title of "Best Managed Development Bank 2022" at the 7th Newbiz Business Conclave and Awards organized by New Business Age.

Among the development banks operating in Nepal, Shine Resunga Development Bank has been making encouraging progress in many indicators. 5 years ago the size of the bank's total assets was 16.65 billion rupees which has increased to 50.67 billion rupees by the end of financial year 2078/79.

Board of Directors of the Bank
Currently, Thaneshwar Paudel is the chairman of the board of directors of the bank. Thaneshwar Paudel, who has accumulated experience in the automotive, educational and banking sectors, is also a successful businessman.
Similarly, other board members of the bank are Doctor Tara Prasad Upadhyay, Engineer Suraj Upreti, Mohan Chapagain, Birendra Bista, Namrata Bhandari and Gopal Prasad Pandey (independent director).

Major Shareholders
According to the annual report of the financial year 2078/79, Thaneshwar Paudel has the largest share of 2.28 percent i.e. 8 lakh 62 thousand 953 shares in the bank. Similarly, Dhanendra Karki has 1.03 percent i.e. 3 lakh 88 thousand 242 shares, while Bal Krishna Bhusal has 0.98 percent i.e. 3 lakh 68 thousand 805 shares, Rajendra Prasad Shrestha has 3 lakh 52 thousand 958 shares and Dilip Raj Maske has 3 lakh 20 thousand 631 shares.

In the bank, the share ownership of promoter shares is 51 percent and the share ownership of ordinary shares is 49 percent.

5 years ago (2074/75) the paid-up capital of Bikas Bank was 1.37 billion rupees which has increased to 3.78 billion rupees at the end of the financial year 2078/79, however the paid-up capital has reached to 4.28 billion rupees after the distrubition of 13.30% bonus share.

The bank which earned 326.7 million rupees net profit 5 years ago, earned 648.7 million rupees net profit in the financial year 2078/79, and by the third quarter of the financial year 2079/80, only Shine Resunga Development Bank succeeded in increasing the profit among the national level development banks. Yes, the bank has increased its profit to 554.4 million rupees.

Despite the increase in paid-up capital, the bank has succeeded in increasing the book value per share, i.e. the net worth per share, for the past 5 years. 5 years ago, the net worth per share was 123 rupees 83 paisa, but in the financial year 2078/79, it has remained at 143 rupees 12 paisa.

Shine Resunga Development Bank, which had a network of 36 branches 5 years ago, is providing services through 84 branches by the end of the financial year 2078/79. Similarly, 5 years ago, 258 employees were working in that bank, and by the end of June 2079, 727 employees were working in the bank.

5 years ago, there were 14.53 billion deposits in the bank, but by the financial year 2078/79, the deposit collection has reached over 43.44 billion. Similarly, during the same period, loan disbursement increased from 12.33 billion to 38.38 billion.
