The ADB-Nepal Resident Mission (NRM) was established to assist its Headquarters in the implementation of projects and programs, in project processing, country programming, and economic and sector work. It also coordinates ADB's activities with other resident diplomatic and donor missions, NGOs, academic institutions, local think tanks, the private sector, and other members of the civil society.
Position: Senior Social Development Officer (Gender)
Description of Responsibilities:
- The Senior Social Development Officer (Gender) supports, monitors, and reports on gender equality, women's empowerment, and social inclusion outcomes in SARD operations in Nepal.
- The position supports the processing, implementation and administration of gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) related and relevant loans, grants. and technical assistance (TA), and undertake work to assist Government of Nepal in reducing poverty, gender inequalities and improving social inclusiveness and accountability.
- The position also supports carrying out GESI-related research and analysis; engages with government agencies relevant to ADB operations in Nepal in policy dialogue and capacity development; coordinates closely with development partners on GESI issues; and provides inputs to ADB's activities to support the adequate integration of gender equality.

Selection Criteria Specific criteria include:
- Bachelor's degree in social sciences (e.g., sociology. anthropology). social and/or economic development, gender and development, public policy, or related fields, with demonstrated professional, field, and operational experience in adapting GESI concepts to operations. Preferably with advanced training.
- At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in project management and implementation, in sectors relevant to ADB operations; and at least 4 years of supervisory experience
- Experience and knowledge of stages of the project cycle (project planning, feasibility analysis, detailed design, projectimplementation and completion, construction supervision, and contract management).
- Good understanding of ADB's guidelines and policies and programs of the Government of Nepal on gender equality. women empowerment and social inclusion
- Effective technical report-writing and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate in Nepali
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with counterpart governments as well as a range of multilateral and bilateral donors.
- Solid analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills.
- Strong planning and organizing skills to handle a multitude of tasks within given timeframes.
- Strong leadership qualities and interpersonal skills.

This vacancy is a local staff position with a local remuneration package. It is open to nationals and permanent residents of Nepal.
